Am i responsible for my late husband’s debts, when they aren’t mine?

My husband died last month, leaving me no insurance. (He had insurance but canceled the policies back in November without telling me.) He also left a pile of debts: Several cell phones, some credit cards, some cash loan places he didn’t pay back, and a student loan. Am I responsible for these loans? Will I have to pay them back? Can any of these people sue me and try to make me pay these debts by making me sell the house? My husband used an attorney who is an old school friend of him, but this guy is a real wuss and I don’t have the money to get a better one, so I can’t go to this guy for advice because he never knows anything. Can anyone give me an answer? Thanks so much! (I already know my husband had some major problems, which he covered up rather well, so please don’t abuse him in your email!)
